Pine Siskin Perch

A pine siskin (Spinus pinus) perches on a branch in the alders. They often travel in flocks in the cold month. Like many of our finches, they are "irruptive" meaning they are abundant some years and scarce others since they go where food is plentiful rather than following normal migration patterns.
